AUSTIN (AP) — Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has been suspended for the first six games of the season for a violation of NCAA rules on performance enhancing drugs.
The university, in a statement Monday, announced that the six-game suspension will include the Aggies’ games against Rice, UCLA and No. 1 Alabama in the Southeastern Conference and No. 12 Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl.
Manziel was charged with marijuana and charged with driving while intoxicated in May.
The university had previously said it was considering a yearlong suspension.
Manziel tested positive for marijuana metabolites in February.
He was also arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault last December. The felony assault charge and a second misdemeanor assault charge against Manziel were dismissed in July.
Texas A&M also clarified that Manziel received credit for the 12,275 hours of community service he completed during his first two years at A&M.
Manziel, who decided last summer to enter the NFL draft, left the Aggies after the 2012 season, leaving their Rose Bowl appearance intact. The Red River Rivalry last season ended in a 13-7 victory for A&M over Texas after Manziel threw for 309 yards and ran for 189.
With the drug suspension, Manziel is the only quarterback on A&M’s roster.David Miranda, partner of Greenwald’s journalist, has been detained at London’s Heathrow Airport for nine hours today. Rebel Ford, a Greek-American bakery offering fresh, home-baked bread, is honored to have been designated the Athens Cultural Board’s 2013 Cultural Venue of the Year!
The Athens Cultural Board, an organization of citizens who promote the arts, music, film, theatre and other cultural interests of the Athens community, announced their winners of their 26th Annual Creative and Cultural Awards at a special ceremony on Saturday, April 21st. The winners of each category were selected by an invitational committee of judges.
Rebel Ford was one of the outstanding recipient of the creative category, for an event the company organized to benefit the Children’s Theater of Athens. The Chute of Dreams was held for the benefit of the Athens Children’s Theater, and the event offered many children from Athens and the surrounding areas a chance to experience the magic of Disney’s Cars.
The event was part of Rebel Ford’s participation in the newly launched Waffle House Great Central Ohio restaurants program, which contributed to the day-long event, and was also held in support of the Art of Living Foundation. In addition to the live entertainment and food available to attendees, the Chute of Dreams was an auction of donated Disney and Pixar movie related items.
This award is for the event that furthered the inspiration and education of the Athens community through the arts, the children’s theater and community engagement.
